5 Museums to Visit in Brasil

mUSEU DO amanha - Rio de Janeiro, RJ

It’s been a few years since I first came across a stunning picture of Museu do Amanhã, and from that very moment, I was in awe. Brazilian architects are truly one of a kind! On my recent trip to Rio, I finally visited the museum, and I probably said "wow" about 100 times.
Upon arrival, you’re met with this huge white fixture, reminiscent of a spaceship, surrounded by still water, which is also surrounded by the ocean. The museum starts on land and extends out into the ocean, creating a breathtaking view.

Casa do Benin - Salvador, bAHIA

I visit this museum everytime I'm in Salvador. I enjoy revisiting the permanent collection while also viewing the new exhibits and featured artists. One cool thing about this museum is the Guest Book, where visitors sign in with a pencil or pen and showing you all the different places previous visitors are from.

Walk around the corner to Oxe Bar, my favorite place to eat pastel (a local street food) in Salvador. For the gays and girls, you can return to this area at night and head to Bar da Pri, located directly across from the museum, for a fun nightlife experience.

MASP (Museu de Arte de São Paulo) - São pAULO, sp

Paintings on glass walls—yup! MASP (mas-pee) displays paintings on glass walls, making it arguably one of the coolest museums in the world. Many of the paintings here are filled with bright colors and striking visuals, mixed in with full-body statues, artifacts, and tons of portraits. If you’re ever in the big city, you should definitely give it a visit.
The gift shop also features unique art pieces that make great home decor or gifts. Plus, there's a bakery if you need a bite.
